I can’t remember if this image came to me before or after my surgery. But the idea of the surgery was something I definitely toiled over for many years.
The botanical core that I’m sorting through is made up of plants that are all somewhere on the scale of weed vs edible vs decorative. Where you place each plant on that scale depends on your current needs and situation and what stage of growth that plant is also in at the moment you encounter it.
In this painting I've removed my core and am scrutinizing what parts of it to pull out and what parts to put back.
